I am planning to have my ‘real’ name changed.
My friends and family members call me, Annie. What many do not know is that my real name is En Xiu. While my name represents my ethnicity, I believe that it’s a burden when it comes to employment when the employer breezes through my resume and catches upon my hard-to-pronounce and distinctive Chinese name. It’s already tough with the rising unemployment rate but if something so trifling as a name can get in the way of having a career for myself then I need to do something about it.
Sometimes, it sucks being the minority.
I need a white person name.
