I want to share a video I used in my presentation today on longevity and quality of life for the sisters/nuns at the covent and the results of their participation on the Nun Study.
What is so significant about the Nun Study is that people who had higher “idea density” and were more optimistic lived longer and were more resistant to symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease even though their brains had lesions, atrophy, and clear signs of the disease from excessive amyloid plagues and tangles. However, despite the neuropathology of AD, the sisters did not exhibit any of the symptoms of one of the most common dementias.
